March 14, 2026 – NZSIT recently participated in the New Zealand Chinese Students Association(NZCSA) Welcome Party, joining hands with NZCSA to organize an interactive waste sorting game aimed at promoting environmental awareness among students.
The Welcome Party, hosted by NZCSA, brought together new and returning students to celebrate the beginning of the semester and strengthen connections within the student community. As part of the event, NZSIT introduced a specially designed waste sorting game that encouraged participants to learn about proper waste classification in an engaging and educational way.
During the activity, students were invited to sort different types of waste items into the correct recycling, compost, and landfill categories. The game not only added a fun and interactive element to the event but also helped raise awareness about sustainable practices and responsible waste management on campus.
To further encourage participation, the top three teams in the game each received an eco-friendly gift package provided by NZSIT, recognizing their outstanding performance and enthusiasm for environmental learning.
Representatives from NZSIT noted that environmental sustainability is an important issue for students and communities alike. By integrating educational activities into social events, the organization hopes to encourage more students to adopt environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
The collaboration between NZSIT and NZCSA reflects a shared commitment to fostering a vibrant campus culture while promoting sustainability and community engagement. Both organizations expressed their enthusiasm for continuing to work together on future initiatives that combine student participation with environmental responsibility.
For many attendees, the waste sorting game became one of the highlights of the Welcome Party, demonstrating that sustainability education can be both meaningful and enjoyable.
